Cong. Gus Tambunting is one of the members of the House of Representatives that can boast a 100% attendance record. He is also considered one of the most active Congressmen of the House. By the end of his term during the 16th Congress in 2016, he had authored 85 bills and resolutions and co-authored 264 more.

Cong. Gus Tambunting is also listed as one of the main proponents of the Freedom of Information Bill. He voices out his opinion on crucial issues such as the country’s traffic situation, the Bangsamoro Basic Law, the Anti-Hospital Deposit Bill, and many others. Congressman Gus Tambunting and Parañaque

Of the congressman candidates from Parañaque, Cong. Gus Tambunting is the only one who served the city in all of its administrations after martial law.

History of Service

Gus first ran for the city’s Municipal Council back in 1988, the first one after the EDSA People Power Revolution. In the Miting de Avance rally, an assassination attempt happened where four bullets entered his body and he was left injured and traumatized. To the presumable disappointment of the assailants, Cong. Gus Tambunting was not deterred and his commitment to serving the city only grew.

He served as the youngest Councilor for four terms, always at the top of the polls with a record number of votes.

After that, he served as the city’s Vice Mayor after a break from politics to focus on family and business. Then, in 2013, he ran as one of the congressman candidates from Parañaque and won the elections — starting his historic tenure as Parañaque’s representative in Congress.
